If I were having a house built that I would be in for many years (life) , I'd have conduit installed into any room that I intend to use for connectivity, back to a common location for connection to the outside world.

Presently you should use high quality coax for Cable Modem and TV connection and category 5 wiring for phones and modem access. Use 4 shielded pair, 8 wire cable.

By installing conduit in the walls, you can replace the current wiring with whatever becomes the standard in the future, without breaking the paint on your walls.<gg>

It depends on how long you are going to be there, to justify the conduit install and material costs.

Have fun,

Ira
