Redskins Sign Banks as Backup Quarterback

washingtonpost.com

Banks is at best a second string quarterback. Hopefully that's all he will be this year. I'm not sure why the skins signed him since Marty is also going with the west coast ball control offense. I've been to a few Ravens games the last two years and Tony Banks is poor when it comes to the short out pass or dropping it off to a back.

I can't image why Dallas didn't just demote him to second string. Why release a minimum salary QB with experience just because you are going to start a rookie?

Looking on the bright side of things, didn't we all think MN's Coach Green was a madman last year when he let his other QB's go and went with the unproven rookie QB Culpepper?

One big difference is that Culpepper was a first rounder and he had a full year to absorb the offense.

Or is Jerry going for the first selection in the 2002 draft?
