"CNG is clearly -- by a wide margin -- the best avenue for the country to stop our foreign oil dependence quickly,"

It's that statement I scoffed at, ie to STOP foreign oil dependence quickly......Stop foreign dependence ?.....that is dreaming....as long as we're using oil, we'll need foreign supplies. Your link clearly is lobbying for more drilling looking for oil as long as they can make a buck from it, they don't mind rising prices since they can always blame someone else for it, ie Obama. re NG....Currently I see very little support for Pickens....is that because he has such large interests in it to the dismay of big oil...

"A second non-rocket-science opportunity is to convert oil-fired hot water and home/office furnaces from oil to natural gas. America burns some 100 million barrels of oil a year just in residential heating alone – 80 percent of it in the Northeast. And adding more local natural gas distribution to accommodate a shift in the Northeast would surely be a construction boon."

That certainly is a no brainer and living in the NE, I can tell you there is a lot of pressure for all to make the conversion....problem is the delivery system is not in place. New housing developments are being hooked in if they are large enough and the price advantage is so great for the consumer they have no trouble signing people up.... re:"100 million barrels of oil a year!!!!" That's less than 275K barrels a day...! That may sound like a lot to you but the nation uses 22,000,000 barrels of oil a DAY!! Increasing the efficiency of our cars from 25 to 27 mpg would save about 775K barrels a day..
