Karin, when reading your post it suddenly dawned on me that perhaps the entire reason Kerry went "hippie war protester" was simply through a desire for revenge toward the military, who, in his mind, screwed him over his assignment. In his mind the deal was no combat. By puting him in the line of fire he felt cheated. "I will get even" says kerry to himself. So again, his protesting had nothing do to with the moral implications of war, rather it was simply him getting even.

This is falling into place a little in my mind now. All should agree that Kerry is not a man of conviction. Men of conviction who get elected to the senate, get elected to get things done, to change the world. Kerry has had over 20+ years in the Senate to get things done. Where has the passion that encouraged him to protest the war gone?? Why has that passion not championed any worthwhile legislation? Men of conviction manage to get things done after 20+ years in the senate. Men of conviction are leaders with strong ideas on how things should be. Kerry must not have any convictions or else he would have acted on them. He has no beliefs. People with beliefs do not flip flop on issues as Kerry does. Why then would a man with no convictions become so involved in the anti war movement??? Why would he care??? Why would he behave so out of character???

The only reason a man like Kerry would get so involved in something is due to revenge. He felt screwed over by the military by not keeping their end of the bargain up that he after he got home he proceeded to get even through the anti war movement. Nothing else makes sense.

John
