You present no evidence that it bought anything, not even a large amount of legal non-corrupt influence, let alone the corrupt, possibly illegal influence you suggest. They didn't buy a state in any sense of the word. They don't own a state, control a state, get to decide who is governor of the state, etc. They are just one influence among many, quite a few of which spend a lot more and/or have a lot more influence than they do.
