John Kaiser, writing in an Oct. 23 issue of his Express e-mail service, says Mansfield Minerals (86 cents), Corriente Resources (58 cents) and Pacific Rim Mining (65 cents) are all top-priority buys because of Argentina Gold's emerging area play in northwestern Argentina. All three moved aggressively into Latin America during the last market cycle and all were financed through power plays that blew up when flagship properties failed to deliver. An optimistic Mr. Kaiser says the three still have shots at becoming another Arequipa Resources, whose eight-million-ounce Pierina deposit in Peru led to a $30-a-share Barrick Gold buyout two years ago. The California cheap-stock expert says the upside benefits of buying these companies outweigh the downside. If Veladero bombs then Corriente, Mansfield and Pacific Rim will still trade where they are now. If Veladero proves a home run, it will likely pull up the three with it.
