The Board can be characterized as stagnant, drifting, and shrinking

Its the typical Board for a new CEO to come in and remold to his liking. I think that is a plus if they select the right CEO. I think it is being set up that way. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if Marengi became CEO and announced a new Board at the same time, a gift from John Young. Once again the announcement to come with good earnings.

But it is also the kind of Board you would expect from a company getting ready to be sold, a shrinking Board. Unfortunately no Intel Christmas present has been promised by Santa Claus to the investors on this thread, nor are there any big boxes under the tree.

I suspect that the large shareholders, former Board members, still exercise undue influence on Novell's direction without having a presence directly on the Board, and will enjoy carving up the company.

If the company falls down on its Kayak and lets the boat sink in the wake of NT then you would strongly suspect that they will retreat to the high end of the network market, the NDS end and begin kissing Bill's ass.

That is not a company I want to own (as in the Wang syndrome). If I don't see Kayak take off I sell.
