Democrats don't really have a clear understanding (and many have not even accepted that we are at war) of this dangerous war and therefore jeopardize our safety as a result of their stubborn ignorance. (I could site past comments made by Senators, "Documentary" film makers, Hollywood stars ect., that I think we are all familiar with, so I won't) Kerry says a lot about how he "might" have done this or that, but all he really seems to be saying is that he would nuance and discuss away the threat from Islamic Militants with our foreign allies (wanna buy a bridge?)
I think what we are looking at here is a lack of discussion regarding the US military and the protection of our nation should John Kerry win the presidency? He gave a speech in Boston that didn't say anything concrete about how he would strengthen our military or fight this war, although he did assure us that he would respond to any further attacks....... what ever that means.
Also, would the people that would be necessary to keep our forces strong be more or less willing to join if they knew John Kerry.....a man who went out of his way to paint our military in less than flattering terms in the 70s....was their commander in chief?
I haven't seen these issues addressed, but I keep hoping. These are important questions imo, and I am one American that is VERY interested in the answers.
I don't know how the Swift Boat Veteran allegations might affect the election, but I think millions of Americans would feel safer knowing that their Commander in Chief is acceptable to the men and women serving in the military because in this day and age, sooner or later, he will be forced to make decisions that directly affect them. And frankly, I think the people serving in our military are the most important Americans of all considering the circumstances.
