Tax loss selling by institutions is my guess. Thirty days later, at the opening of the new year they can buy back depressed stocks. Many tech stocks have taken a beating so the big funds can use tax loss sales to offset other earnings. I suspect tech stock will be depressed for the next two weeks until a better picture of Christmas sales is posted. Thereafter, QNTM and the others should take off. The economy is still doing very well and the Asian banking crisis probably won't have a major impact on the US and Europe.
