She is a very interesting writer, very perceptive and objective in her observations. I have a copy of "Essays in Understanding," a print of some of her essays which includes an interview with a German reporter after the war. It seems she was attacked from all sides because of her unbiased account of antisemitism in Totalitarianism and her depiction of events and the man in Eichmann.

I had no idea she was Heidegger's lover! Thats an interesting bit of history. Im finding in my rereading of Totalitarianism (I first read it when I was, I believe, 18) that the antisemitism of that period was much more complex than what is popularly portrayed, which shouldnt be surprising I suppose. I imagine that Heidegger was merely expressing what may be called Jew-hatred which was rampant in European intelligentsia, and not the (political) antisemitism of Nazism.
