I read somewhere that WordPerfect 8 can permanently change files when it is installed. Uninstalling won't fix the problem and I think these problems have something to do with the P2 processor/Win98 as my plain old P class machines have no problems with WP8 on Win98.

Sucks because I have used WP for almost 10 years, I like the quick spreadsheet program built into it. Works great for simple spreadsheets.

Netscape 4.7, I use to run Winamp, paid for it infact, I think that program caused me grief in the past as well. I hope there is an option in Netscape 4.7 that will allow the user NOT to install Winamp. I prefer Media Player.
