I fully agree. Its a well known fact in the investment community that most of the equipment that Cisco claims to have been sold into the Carrier markets is actually being resold by the Carriers to their enterprise customers. So whether John sells it to Tom or sells it to Harry who then sells it to Tom it is finally sales to Tom. Either way the reporters dont know Dick :-)
They just want to write that "Cisco among others is racing to sell gear to the Carriers to enable them to move voice video and data at faster speeds to meet the exploding demand of internet caused by growing number of people on the Internet".

Sure sounds better than "Cisco is trying its best to make up its slowing sales in the enterprise area by selling more equipment to Carriers so they can resell it. Although their core ATM products are a generation behind and have contributed to a puny number of contracts to build out the Carrier's next generation ATM network they still maintain that 80% of the Internet flows through Cisco products. Actually that should only read through Cisco routers since they are asking you to ignore the local loop (where they have no presence), CO switches, Optical equipment from Lucent and others etc.. "
