Well, I'm afraid their Moscow associates just wrote them off --without notice. With the FBI and SEC sleuths running after them, they'd become hot "liabilities"... FSB and Mossad set up a "firewall" to shield the top brass involved in the Sept 11 atrocities.
Ben Gurion Airport is allegedly the safest airport in the world, its security is headed by a retired IDF General... All the passengers of the Sibir flight had to check in at the boarding gate THREE hours before takeoff.
Moreover, keep in mind that the incident occurred AFTER Sept 11, so I guess Ben Gurion's security was tightened, especially for a flight to Russia...
