You said: "Having recently sent my lap-top in for a repair, I do not want to tell you how I would like to have something like the zip drive to download my files on to."

I just used my zip drive (which I've had for nearly a year now) for that very thing. Hard drive was going out on my lap-top and I transferred all my files to five zip disks and transferred them back when the lap-top returned with a new hard drive. I tried to do something similar using Colorado Backup a year ago and it was a disaster (slow and unreliable). That's what motivated me to get the zip drive. I have used it many times since to transfer large files from one machine to another. Bought Iomega stock last November and have been hanging in there through thick and thin ever since.
