Hi GUSTAVE JAEGER; Re: "The exercise was carried out in Crimea, on Cape Onuk, about 250km (160 miles) from the site of the crash. It involved firing surface-to-air missiles at unmanned aircraft."

250km is within the range of a SA-5 S-200 antiaircraft missile. Such missiles are included in the Ukrainian air defense service. Both these facts are verified in links I posted tonight. (See #reply-16457818 #reply-16459105 )

If you're going to call this one a cover up of a bomb attack, you'll have to retreat to the usual implications rather than proofs.

One reason for the US to immediately label it as a misguided missile is to deny the terrorists the pleasure of a public victory. But I doubt that this is what happened. It's just too convenient that the Ukraine was testing antiaircraft missiles with the range required in the area where the plane was destroyed.
