I don't say it's a matter of right or wrong, but of different understandings.

For example, you consider tipping a waiter a duty. I don't.

But that arises from our different conceptions of what creates a duty. For you, duty is imposed by the societal values you have been taught over the years. For me, duty is imposed by my responsibility to self-interest and such other duties as I voluntarily take on, not as are imposed on me from the outside.
