from the looks of things this a.m. on the newsgroups, people are still having major probs using smart update to get 4.7 and are just going with the full install.

here's the essence of what i'm seeing repeated on newsgroups: "when I tried to use SmartUpdate to download the 128-bit Communicator 4.7, at about 95% I got the message "corrupted JAR installation file." When I tried to restart the smartupdate download, I got a server error."

ouch. 95%.

[edit: here's a response from a very helpful person on newsgroups... >>>"Though not responsible for all Smart Update (S.U.D.) failures, utilities such as ads-off, cache programs and virus scanners can hamper its operation. Further, under EDIT|PREFS|ADVANCED, S.U.D. and JAVAscript should both be enabled."<<< i didn't realize that there's a smart update enabled setting! and this person confirms the need to shut down background applications for clean installs.]
