Craig, going past the reference to NDC's $99/port product we learn that NDC's product can support only half the MACs as NBase's, plus it has other limitations so it's not at all competitive. Here's the clip from Techweb that''ll give comfort to anyone concerned about the NDC vs NBase/MRVC offering:
"The number of media access control
(MAC) addresses supported drops with
the price, as vendors cut memory to cut
costs, Wilson said. For example,
NBase's $199-per-port switch handles
8,000 MAC addresses per virtual LAN,
while NDC's $99-per-port switch can
handle about 4,000 MAC addresses
and has no virtual LAN capabilities.

One thing Yablonka said he doesn't want
to give up is manageability. To that end,
Intel offers a Web-based management
interface; NBase offers SNMP and
RMON support. NDC said its switches
are "self-managing."

end of clip.

MRVC is still the price/performance leader! And I wouldn't be at all surprised if the INTC offering is OEMd by MRVC.
