I normally spray my clothes with Permethrin and when the ticks are bad, I'll spray myself with DEET too. I was just sitting on the porch watching futures and letting the dog go to the bathroom and wasn't expecting a war to break out so I wasn't prepared. I was barefoot in sweats getting ready for bed. He was on the porch and smelled it then took off like a missile. Next I hear snarling and screaming. I just threw my boots on and grabbed the gun. I wasn't even sure of what gun to grab.
For what it's worth, I buy Permethrin concentrate at the feed store. The last one I bought was about $10 a couple years ago. It will make gallons of the stuff. If you buy it ready made from a box store like WMT, you'll pay $7 for just a few ounces that might last one or two outings.
I mix up a gallon at a time in a milk jug then pour some of that into a spray bottle.
Ooops have to go, sideways channel just broke down.
