Because we have a more successful, rational society than they do, and therefore superior values. Harm is objective: the girl is mutilated, and cannot experience sexual pleasure, even within the confines of marriage. It is, however, viewed as being justified. If one persuaded them it was not justified, because it could not prevent romantic attachments, and the possibility of sexual defilement, anyway, then it would be abandoned. I am not saying I would succeed in persuading them, but that it was a thesis to advance.........
