Scott-- you make some excellent points

As far as recognizing volatility when placing stops that is a given and I don't feel that there is a way around that. However you are right as far as the question of whether one is better off using a tighter stop and then re-entering a position if needs be.

Re my trade of last week when I allowed a 30 point loss to dissipate and end up realizing a profit of only 6 points or so, I think the fault lies more in the difficulty that I am encountering in transitioning from a position trading to day trading mind-set.
