Because the 3.3V signalling thingy just did not work reliably, you should remember how AMD took a big blame for this from Intel zealots as being "incompatible" with "open standard". Intel just quietly dropped the 3.3V signalling from their horizon and did not talk much about that. Regards, - Ali
