albert,
I was in Monterrey for last 5 days to set up the ATM broadband for Avantel 's network to open ceremony & anouncement of the commercial long distance services in Mexico. To response late better than not.

I think both ADSL (AMTX & WSTL) are very good modems. I compared three of the kind: Pairgain (high speed), Westell, and Amati. They are all very good modems but the main thing is applications that you could applied to this high fast speed. I like Amati's modem the most because of their standardized which they are holding and it is very easy to work with. ADSL/DMT is very new in the infrastructure build up phase (present time), it will picked up very soon by the end of the year or next year I expected. ADSL/CAP already existing for at least 3 years and not a sigle RBOC impressed with CAP until the kick off of the big "I-internet" couple year ago. I used Internet to run the net and all modems ran extremely fast.
I don't know if GTE or SWBell are testing any ADSL in Houston. I bet they are.

Clint
