From today's Reuters US Options Report:

Elsewhere on the CBOE, implied volatility on Dekalb Genetics Corp. (NYSE:DKB - news) options slipped to around 37 percent on the January 90 contracts from around 47 percent late on Monday.

Traders attributed the drop to expectations that Dekalb's merger deal with Monsanto Co. (NYSE:MTC - news) would close soon.

The January 90 and 95 calls on Dekalb registered volume of more than 600 contracts, compared with put volume of just 348 contracts.

Monsanto late Monday priced a 22.5 million share offering at $40 per share as part of its plan to finance about $6 billion worth of planned acquisitions.

Monsanto agreed to acquire the remaining 60 percent of Dekalb it did not already own. Rumblings last week that the deal might be in jeopardy had lifted implied volatility on Dekalb, traders said.
