Applied Nanotech Inc. Announces the Use of Its Carbon Nanotube Cold Cathodes For Medical Applications

AUSTIN, Texas, June 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SI Diamond Technology,
Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: SIDT) through its subsidiary, Applied Nanotech Inc.
(ANI) today announced that Oxford Instruments (see oxfordxtg.com )
expanded its utilization of ANI's carbon nanotube cold cathodes for medical
applications according to MediRad (an Israeli company, contact
medirad@netvision.net.il ) specifications, to achieve a very unique form
factor x-ray tube with a length of 35 mm and a diameter of 9 mm developed for
MediRad. X-ray tubes as narrow as 4 mm are possible.
This new x-ray tube will allow pinpoint therapy in brachytherapy as well
as in dentistry and will improve currently available treatments. These new
radiation therapy devices achieve overall lower cost and greater safety due to
the absence of radioactive isotopes.
ANI is currently supplying carbon nanotube cold cathodes to MediRad and a
Japanese company, both of which are leaders in developing new miniature x-ray
tubes for medical applications.
"Medical applications represent a potential for high volume production of
carbon nanotube cold cathodes," said Dr. Zvi Yaniv, President and CEO of ANI.
