Many years ago, we lived next door to a family with two kids who had cystic fibrosis....the younger one (a girl) had to get a "treatment" every day in which she had her back slapped to loosen mucous. She took a powdery medicine every day. The older one went on to medical school and to this day we've heard nothing to indicate he is not still practicing. We do not know how the girl fared later in life, but they both made it past their teens.... A third child was not affected.
