The government needs to find a program to replace the jobs of the auto workers.

A new WPA may be in the future.

I think we could give every taxpayer a $5,000 auto rebate to spend in 2 years on a fuel effiecent car. If the Big 3 fail then, then c'est la vie.

The loan poses one big problem. The wages paid to assemble a car are not in line with the average factory worker salaries. So many are over $70,000 salary when we have college grads making $25,000 to start. The workers will have to cut the benefits and salaries even further then they have. The American Axle settlement with the UAW is a starting grounnd. This also means management will cut layers and costs too. Right now, many are not sympathetic with the workers or the industry which has a perception of excess.
