AOL is nothing more than a glorified ISP. In order for the business model of AOL to succeed they must continually build on a strong subscriber base but this would also involve heavy investment in massive infrastructure (servers, modems, networking and the like). AOL does not define the Internet as many of its users must surely believe but rather facilitates its use. It is just a matter of time till their subscriber growth slows and exponentially increasing revenues can no longer be sustained.
