Kerry was a 21 year old kid who embittered upon his return exaggerated all sorts of things including his war exploits. While there he also stretched the truth a bit to get one purple heart. The other medals seem OK to me. Even if he stepped on the accelerator too hard causing his buddy to fall off, he still came back into a fire zone even if there was no fire at that moment. As folks on this kerry bashing thread point out, kerry brought this all upon himself by bringing up his war record. Thus the counterattack. I wonder about that because the book was to come out anyway i suspect. I dont think anything kerry or bush did back then either qualifies or disqualifies them for office. Being a navy lieutenant doesnt make anyone qualified for Pres, nor does bushes reserve service disqualify him at all. 30+ years after the war and it has become an issue again--its a joke. Mike
