Oblomov knows stuff. Understands the heirarchal program of framing debate within illusion, then go about the real business of doing everything in support of oligarchic malfeasance.

The problem isn't lobbyists; they are just a symptom. The problem is that the federal government has become the center of an imperial spoils system. Earmarks are just a small part of the problem, although they are a particularly egregious abuse of power.

If government power were limited, and politicians no longer had the ability to hand out favors or recompense to political allies, then there would be no more lobbyists. There would also be far fewer partisan think tanks, and much less chatter on MSNBC and FNC. There would be drastically smaller demand for attorneys and accountants.

This is why my vision will never come about: there are massive financial - and emotional - investments in the status quo.
