I brought this up yesterday. Blogs for Bush.

Legit Condemnation Or Set Up?
So John Kerry "condemned" MoveOn.Org's recent ad critcizing Bush's National Guard service yesterday. The question on my mind is, "was this a genuine condemnation of the ad, or a set up planned by the Kerry campaign and MoveOn.Org?"

John Kerry on Tuesday condemned a television ad that criticizes President Bush's Vietnam-era service in the Texas Air National Guard, even as prominent veterans linked to the Democratic presidential campaign echoed the commercial's accusations.
In a campaign shadowed by the war on terror, the military records of Kerry and Bush emerged again as an issue after Republican Sen. John McCain called on Kerry to denounce an ad that accuses Bush of using family connections to avoid the Vietnam War.

Kerry's condemning of the ad followed John McCain calling on Kerry to denounce the ad. Kerry obliged, but this was also after a Kerry campaign news conference where two veterans making the same accusations against Bush that the MoveOn.Org ad had.

All signs tell me that this was a set up. Kerry never denounced MoveOn.Org's publishing of the Bush=Hitler ads on their website, (however he condemned the Bush campaign for including it in a web video montage showcasing the anger and rage of the Democrats) nor did he criticize DNC Chairman Terry McAuliffe when he attacked Bush's National Guard service.

So now, after the Kerry campaign is desperate to deflect the microscope away from his service, MoveOn.Org releases an ad questioning Bush's service, conveniently giving Kerry the opportunity to condemn the ad - something he wanted the White House to do following an ad questioning his service. Very convenient indeed.

So was this a set up? Does it matter since Kerry's surrogates are still questioning Bush's service? The Bush campaign has never questioned Kerry's service. It's interesting that Kerry will condemn this latest MoveOn.Org ad, but not keep his campaign from making those same criticisms...
