nick, don't you consider the State's action somewhat ominous? for 90% of other technology based companies, the stock at the same valuation, would drop $15 in a day. for msft, does the whittling appear to be underway? msft has support from the mutuals; but what happens if/when the mutuals begin to pull their triggers? granted other lawsuits have been faced. what, then, if this is different? people have spoken of msft for the past two years like their talking about the titanic. companies do make major errors; thus far msft has called all the right cards. did they pick a card in their dealings which could be construed as the "smoking gun", the "iceberg" as it were? certainly, it appears there are more 'powered' people who consider that msft has overstepped. how will Bill react to this latest barage? isn't it possible for Bill to get tired of this? clearly, Bill has made his billions and has posted his wonderful contribution to this country. but isn't it possible for Bill to again acknowledge partial wrongdoing, and effectively end the ordeal with the doj? government(s) sometimes want to succeed in their pursuit, sometimes because they are right and sometimes to save face - they want the pursued to acknowledge wrong doing, pay the bill, and go forward (whether wrongdoing in the "eyes" of the marketplace occurred or not). how much more will Bill put up with? how much would a normal executive put up with? Bill has a family now - he's succeeded, why blow it now on a few squabbles - acknowledge, get it done?
