I have put on a coat of sealer and then 2 coats of water based varathane and whenever the dog comes to a skidding stop his nails plow through my varathane. I know I know get rid of the dog.( Well he almost blew away during the night, but he has gotten so fat that even 70 mile an hour wind fail to lift him any appreciable distance). We are preparing to get out the big guns ie the oil based varathanes but thought that I would see if there was a reason not to. I realize too late the error of my ways, that the floor was a mistake. My other big error was to use white kitchen tiles with white grout. I cannot tell a lie I was warned by everyone not to do this, but I saw a picture in a Martha Stewart magazine....but since Martha does not live here, the grout looks a little yellow already .
