TO ALL: COINCIDENCE or just chance? Remember the stock
activity on November 18? 13 million shares trade on
Novell....stock rises two points to $11 1/2.

This was the same day of the AMERICAN EXPRESS rumor
that they were talking merger with Intuit.

Rumors Stir Intuit, Novell Stock Up

- Intuit chairman Scott Cook told reporters at the Securities Industry Association meeting two weeks ago that he would not comment on rumored merger talks with American Express, stressing his company will never be "captive" to one financial institution. Intuit's stock was one of the leading gainers in the CRW Index, up 35.8 percent to close at 36.5 on Nov. 8.

- Shares of Novell rose over two points to close at 11.5 on volume of more than 13 million shares after takeover rumors surfaced on The Motley Fool, an online market watcher, a couple of weeks ago. Novell executives declined to comment on the speculation.
