Subject: Uveal melanoma study, Epidemiology journal article.

Dear Dr. Stang,

Congratulations to you and your associates for discovering a possible link between the use of mobile phones and uveal melanoma.

You have probably seen the Time Magazine article of a couple weeks ago dealing with brain cancer and mobile phones. Radiation ratings were given to four phones. Two had ratings about ten times the other two. While the article did not so state, the two with the low ratings use CDMA technology as developed by Qualcomm and prevalent in the U.S. The two with ratings ten times higher use the GSM technology that is ubiquitous in Europe. While international standards bodies are moving toward CDMA for the entire next generation of digital mobile phones (3G), your findings raise some questions.

Q: When was your study initiated, concluded and released to Epidemiology?

Q: Where is the "study region"?

Q: Were you and your associates aware of the technological differences between CDMA and GSM before the study was finished?

Q: Where and when do you anticipate that the "confirming" study may be undertaken?

Thanks in advance for the courtesy of your reply.
