I know among Japanese men, they praise highly of those who are defeated and commits suicide (Mishima Yukio's novels beautified those ritual suicide), although I am not sure this is the case for their women and children and babies. And especially in children/babies case, they were murdered, right and square, by their own men, dozens of them. There are still some living Chinese who saw the atrocity with their own eyes, and described in their memoir. It was horrible. I think you must have read that not only the total population of Japan is declining now, the number of Japanese men are declining at a faster rate. I wonder what is the role of them being invaders in WWII in this.
