Lester e, like me and a few others, does not use PE as a guide to buy or sell AMAT. It's enough for him to know that the Company makes the machines that are mostly used in making CHIPs. So if the economy is doing Okay, CHIPS are in demand and so AMAT prospers and it's stock goes Up in price. It's just that simple. No need to calculate PEs.

If all AMAT Investors and Traders strictly use PEs --- AMAT would stay in the 10s forever.

Actually most PE users I know do not complain if AMAT sports a PE of 4 or 400 --- they accept it as a blessing if AMAT goes to 100. All they do is sell, no further ado.
