Excellent points! He is a progressive and his current stance is one of convenience. If the Republican party today was leaning left, he would adjust his position accordingly. He is a good debater but that does not impress me. The current incumbent has oratorical skills but he is a failure as a president. IMO, Gingrich lacks a moral compass.
