And the point would be ... ?

Shouldn't be plain and obvious to anyone that if AMD slips up, they suffer big time, while if Intel slips up, it barely makes a dent in the bottom line? That's the nature of the situation right now. Even if (when?) AMD takes the performance lead with K7, their bottom line profitability is extremely intolerant of any slip-up because most of their eggs are in one basket.
