Technology Stocks : Novell (NOVL) dirt cheap, good buy?

Leo-- I hate to subscribe
to a potential conspiracy theory, but the stock
action truly does not reflect the potential of NOVL ( even with all the marketing and
PR missteps which have been so well recorded on this thread).

My concern :
+A major share holder could very easily place continuing pressure on this stock by
offering small amount to sell whenever there appears any buying pressure. Eventually this will
discourage any accumulation and create negative sentiment as has occurred periodically here(especially now).

+Current marketing and PR actions appear, at best, to be inadequate or
perhaps there is no interest in promoting the stock until some unknown activity is finalized.

+We are currently in a great bull market for most stocks. Wouldn't it be wonderful for some
potential buy under to be announced when the market (and of course NOVL) will be under pressure during a
market selloff, which surely will occur sometime in 1997

+At that time the $1 billion in cash and the great cash flow (which Eric so ably identified) would
easily support a bank financing of a purchase at say $8 ( or about $2.75 billion).

+Once private, the real estate assets, customer base.... etc. could be exploited to their full
potential!!!!!

I hope this is just a bad dream, but like Eric, I was surprised how easily I was able to buy Feb 12.5 calls at the bid.
This weakeness in price begs for an explanation and your observation regarding buy under could be it.

I guess we'll all see how this plays out in 1997.

Isn't this fun (g)?
