Yes. I'm going ahead with it. Losing weight is generally good- when it is intentionally lost. Though there may be a few people who can't work with the program, too bad. They don't HAVE to lose weight- they only have to if they want the money.

Unintentional weight loss may occur (frequently as a result of cancer and other illnesses)- and those losses can up the morbidity for studies of weight loss- but I'm not worried about ill people claiming weight loss money. I'm not think about making people rich, but a little tax rebate for dropping 10 to 20% of your body weight for the obese and morbidly obese, I'm OK with.

It's "easy" to get a gastric bypass, and harder to eat a good diet and exercise- so I figure you pay people for what is difficult. Although I'm ok with people getting gastric bypasses- I'm just afraid there may be some consequences to those operations that are not present with diet and exercise. Humans are evolved, after all, to eat a rational diet and to exercise, in the wild they aren't normally able to move their duodenums around and hook them up differently.

A gastric bypass is better than being morbidly obese, but far better than that is being able to maintain some sort of normal body mass in a way that does not involve chopping up your intestines. JMO
