re:I always felt Intel's decision to delay Merced was a strategic move, rather than one resulting from technical difficulties. The picture becomes clearer everyday. Exactly. Intel pushing Merced in mid-late 1999 would probably mean a a cancellation of 32-bit processor orders until 64-bit Merced was ready. Very uncertain revenue stream as a result. Now, the choice is clear: XEON and all its variants for the next 2 years. Much more certain revenue stream, and from the looks of initial orders, very profitable revenue stream. joey
