"I have found out this afternoon(8/31) that Westfield Oil has posted bond for
the permit in Louisiana. A "green card" will be issued by the state upon proof
of bond from the bonding company. There is a 72 hour waiting period before
work can begin, and required work will take 4-5 days, weather permitting.
The state is expecting to receive the papers either today or tomorrow."

PROMAX ENERGY ANNOUNCES COMPLETION OF PHASE III GAS
GATHERING SYSTEM

The Board of Directors of Promax Energy Inc. (the "Corporation") is pleased
to announce the completion of Phase III (8.8 km), the final phase of its
mainline gathering system in Cessford, now totaling 61.6 Kilometers. In
addition, it has acquired an inventory of 32,000 meters of 114 mm coated,
new line pipe for tie-ins in 2000.

To date, 10 wells have been activated and are producing, and permit
applications are in progress to add 8 more suspended wells by September
30, 2000. Additional tie-ins will follow work-overs and successful drilling
locations with the objective of up to 35 wells producing by year end.
