Nope, it doesn't. We've had similar things happen here. My parents were ripped off in a real estate scheme. I do not believe in jail time for that sort of thing, and neither did my parents. No purpose is served. There are many ways to protect society that do not include jail time. Jail time is too expensive, and it serves no useful purpose (save to separate people from society and to train them into more violent criminals- neither of which serves the goal of punishing or rehabilitating the non-violent offender).
