calypso r: I'm not sure why that would bother you. The free internet business model relying upon advertisement is not working. Micropayments will be the only way to ensure fiscal survival. Obviously if you are pro-Gemplus you are pro client-side security. You understand that security is not guaranteed out in the cloud by someone elses server where you credit card info is stored. You don't want that stuff leaving your machine. What I'm going through right now on the RB is that someone may have hacked my RB account and deleted me from the database! Imagine if they got my credit card info. I, personally, would rather pay a fraction for something via metering and turn it off if I don't like it and not get charged. Remember, Ms. Doubtfire? In the current scheme, you drive to Blockbuster and rent it. You pay the entire rental whether you like it or not. Metering puts control into the hands of the consumer, where I suspect you would want it to be?
