When you read in the press that Chavez is popular in VZ, don't believe it.

Moonbat Attitudes Not So Prevalent in Venezuela

The mistake of relying on the mainstream media for news could have you thinking that Venezuelans love leftist strongman Hugo Chavez, and share his noisy hatred for America. But Gustavo Coronel, a former member of Venezuela's Congress, assures us neither is the case.

Anyone who refers to sinister dictators like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Robert Mugabe as "brothers" is bound to find favor among Hollyweird's useful idiot contingent. For example, Danny Glover — who has taken $18 million from Chavez to make a propaganda movie — compares him to MLK. But what do Venezuelans think of him?

Coronel draws on a June 2007 poll by Hinterlaces, Venezuela's premier polling company. With 95% reliability, it found:

• Attacks against the U.S. by Chavez are rejected by 75% of participants and approved of by 14%;

• To give money away to other countries, as Chavez is doing from the Venezuelan oil largess, received the support of only 9% of those polled, while 87% rejected it;

• The pretense of Chavez to re-elect himself indefinitely by modifying the existing constitution is rejected by 63% of those asked and approved of by 19%;

• 81% of Venezuelans would generally like to see new political leadership in the country.

As a leader, Chavez's approval rating in Latin America is in the bottom three, along with his role model Fidel Castro and Peru's Alan Garcia.

The flames of anti-Americanism Chavez has attempted to fan are sputtering out. Venezuelans are more appreciative of America than are residents of Britain, Sweden, or France, at least one of which owes its very existence to America.

Among the many beneficial results of an end to Chavez's rule would be replacing his phony enmity with the natural goodwill that the people of Venezuela and America have no reason not to feel for each other.

Chavez is more popular among American moonbats than among Venezuelans.

On a tip from Byron.
