On my side, had it been an independent little furniture shop run by an adorable little old Bavarian woodworker, with his portly, bifocaled silver-haired wife bringing out steaming pieces of freshly made apple pie for us while we waited for him to finish with the customer before us, then my efforts would have undoubtedly been far more strenuous than to ask them twice to get around to charging me the proper amount.

As it was, I found my sympathies for this chain slowly but inexorably evaporated after my second time around on hold to the accounting department, listening to interminable string section renditions of "Close to You" and "Hey Jude."

Edit: As to the kid thing, I cannot address it, but I suppose it would depend upon whether or not I'd just gotten the orthodontist bill.
