They key facts are the provinces with the strongest natural resources are doing well. BC, AB, Quebec and SK. Everybody else is in the crapper. Courtesy of the free trade agreement with the Americans which allowed them to come in buy up their CDN subsidiaries and close them down to compete back home with incursions of Asian trade, flooding the market at 15 cents on the dollar. For 30 years our manufacturing sector has been taken offshore. Nothing is made here anymore, and as a consequence we are out of jobs. We get "cheap" clothing, kitchen ware and cars from Asia, but we can't afford them unless we have high paying resource jobs in the hinterland, government positions, or union work. Now the union work is gone as the protected industries, like the car industry are caught in the credit - offshore crunch. Canada as I pointed out, is being supported by Alberta Oil. The oil sands. Hence the increase in AB oil sands taxes in order to get some of the Federal grab from Trudeau's legacy national energy policy.

Canada is in big trouble business wise. They never win at any of the free trade stuff. Americans just go on an anti dumping tirade whenever the dollar dives, and CDN stuff looks cheap. This protectionism allows them to screw us two ways. First by tariffing our goods, and two by buying back their formerly FIRA child companies in Canada and closing them out. Auto pact is gone. So they get their cake and eat it too. And it poisons them to boot.

Nice.
