I believe you and I are using different terms in regards to what a cash account means. Yes, you have to put the cash up front, but the derivatives are technically in margin status.

Any time you short common stock you are technically using a margin account.

If you've been trading since before I was born, then it is safe to assume that you know what you're talking about and we are arguing about nothing.
