I agree you were somewhere around right about the voters except for the "save the nation" part, where of course we differ diametrically.

I don't agree about Kerry making a horse's ass of himself. Why? You mean because he hasn't conceded yet? (Or is there something else...I haven't watched since 10:30 eastern after which it was obvious Kerry would lose.) He's toast, but he's doing what any candidate would do in this hyper-polarized situation, and what his supporters expect.

Bush would be doing the same if the situation was reversed. I doubt that acting like a good sport made Rove's to-do list.
Each side retained some big fraction of the top-tier U.S. legal establishment knowing the ending was likely a mess. In fact I think it's going to turn out far neater than I was expecting regardless of which side prevailed.

Your man won, John. Time to stop the snarling. Your fellow citizens are not your enemy.
